Thanksgiving 2020 / Christmas tree
Thanksgiving during pandemic time was just the 4 of us. We still signed up for our yearly Turkey Trot and did it remotely on our trail( thanks to Gene). I am so happy we did it. I think it is our 5th year running the turkey trot.
We got a 11.86 lb turkey- Gene cooked it to perfection, in addition to his mouthwatering stuffing ( first time making it) . Meimei made her famous sweet potato with marshmallow, but this year there were purple and orange sweet potato. Andrew made a delish mashed potato. I made my usual cranberry sauce and instead of green beans, cooked broccoli. We also had our usual pumpkin pie with homemade whipped cream. We took the Thanksgiving dinner over to Ah-Gong, Ah-Ma, and Ah- Goo- unfortunately we could not eat together due to COVID 19. I think the last time we all ate together was in March.
We went to cut our Christmas tree today, November 29, 2020 at Summit Christmas tree farm. First time going up there- it was pretty big and crowded. Usually every year- it is pretty cold or wet when we go tree cutting, but this year is was quite sunny, almost warm. Many of us were getting a little sweaty. We usually like to cut a very tall tree and this year did not disappoint. Andrew was on a mission to find the biggest/ tallest, but also good looking tree. Audrey was a little preoccupied because she was going to pick her Spring Freshmen year classes later in the day, but she also did a lot of looking. We finally decided on a huge Douglas fir- probably 14-15 feet.
I haven’t posted anything for many months… Joe Biden won the presidency, but Trump still has not conceded. We are in a COVID surge right now again- everybody says it is going to get worse. There is a curfew from 10pm to 5am in Santa Clara county. There are currently 2-3 vaccines( almost approved) that are 90-95% effective which is wonderful new.
